Welcome to Roots Yoga and River House Retreat Center. River House is located in South Haven, Michigan, a short drive from Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo and just 2 hours from Chicago. We overlook the Black River, the Kal-Haven trail is steps away, and we are just 3 miles to Lake Michigan beaches and down town South Haven. We're easy to find and hard to leave!
We are a six bedroom, 5 bathroom home with two additional private rooms next door in our second location. We have a practice space that holds 14, and a separate, beautiful meditation room. River House has two full kitchens. We serve healthy, seasonal, vegetarian meals (sample menus available upon request). We have two wonderful massage therapists on staff as well as a certified Reiki practitioner/healer. Our teachers and guest teachers are all experienced, certified and registered yoga teachers.

Roots Yoga annually hosts spring and fall retreats. Our next retreats are May 22-24, 2020. and June 5-7th, 2020. River House is also available to host your next weekend event or retreat. We can customize the retreat to fit your needs, or simply provide the space for you to do your own thing.
Roots Yoga Spring Retreat: Ayurveda and Yoga, Breathe & Begin

Roots Yoga and Heather Toonen Yoga and Ayurveda invite you to join us for a weekend of spring cleaning, and new growth. Heather is a 500- Hour Kripalu certified Yoga and Ayurveda Instructor. To Heather, a devotee of all things Ayurvedic, learning to skillfully navigate through whatever comes our way - physically, mentally, and/or emotionally with grace requires radical self care, nurturing and balance. She weaves her personal experience, love and knowledge to create a transformative experience both on and off the mat.
Nature and Ayurveda provide the ultimate playground for exploration and inquiry - this retreat will be a fun and informative way to begin your personal spring cleaning! Come and experience the change of seasons thru self care, yoga practice, breath work, meditation, eat healthy, learn about the doshas, and learn about yourself all in the peace and solitude of River House.
Roots Yoga Spring Retreat II: Inside/Out Yoga Adventure!
June 5-7, 2020
Go outside to go inside! This retreat will take us out doors as much as possible. We will practice yoga and meditation, kayak, ride bikes, guided hikes, picnic and experience a fun filled yoga adventure. Evening fires, slack line and acro-yoga demonstrations, music and community will energize the body, mind and spirit! If you are an active, adventurous yogi, or you want to spend time in a hammock by the river this retreat will be an opportunity to connect with nature and energize your practice with new breathing techniques, a dash of spice to your practice and lots of fresh air!
If you have your own bike or kayak bring it! If not we will get it for you! You can pick and choose to bike, kayak, hike, run, rest, do a little or do it all!!
